Does ph matter in the removal of carpet stain?

Does ph matter in the removal of carpet stain?

What does it really matter? Does it have to have a high ph level to clean carpet?

Hi

Carpet has to sit at a PH of 7.5, which is neutral. If you use a carpet spotter with a high PH you will slowly lift the PH of the carpet and that can cause the carpet to turn brown or black. If you use a product with a low PH you can cause a carpet to turn yellow or red.

This is the reason pet urine stain (high PH) go yellow and vinegar (low PH) is used to bring the PH of the carpet back to neutral. Over the years of carpet cleaning, I’ve seen carpet that have been destroyed by using the wrong PH product.

HELP! I need carpet stain removal tips!?

HELP!  I need carpet stain removal tips!?

Okay so here’s the deal: On a white/beige carpet I spilled some cranberry juice mixed with sprite and some chili. I need tips to clean it out with limited supplies. It is not a test!

lol I fell down the stairs.

Put lemon juice on the stain and then sprinkle cream of tartar onto the top of the juice. Pat it in with your finger and let it sit on the stain until the stain is gone. The citric acid will take the stain right away. Some stains are tougher than others, but 15-30 minutes should work just fine.

Then wash with a mild soap and warm water. Lemon juice contains ascorbic acid (vitamin C). Ascorbic acid is an active reducing agent (as opposed to an oxidizing agent).

I hope this helps

Carpet Stain Removal – Scrub or Blot?

Carpet Stain Removal – Scrub or Blot?

Typically, what is the best method to remove a stain from carpet? My mother thinks scrubbing is the answer, but I have heard you’re never supposed to scrub your carpet. I’ve looked online and I am sort of confused what people mean by blotting, which is what I thought you were suppose to do.

Does blotting mean taking an absorbant cloth/towel and applying pressure to the stain to soak it up? This is what I’ve done to stains in the past, but my mom said it makes the stain go deeper into the fabric, causing permanent damage. Confused. : -(

Yes, blotting is just pressing down with an absorbent towel or cloth to draw up the stain. It won’t push the stain down, it will draw the stain up into the towel. Scrubbing will damage and fray the carpet fibers, and make it fuzzy in that spot. It also may just spread the stain around, while blotting won’t.
