oxi-sun brand at dollar general and walmart is cheaper. has worked on many different kinds of stains on carpet. good luck.

Most red wine stains are removed by pouring white wine over the stain, once this has been done , you blot with kitchen roll. You can try , but normally this should be done on the spot when it happens. So I can suggest you add a small amount of cold water to the stain, add salt. like you do with blood stains. The red wine should lift onto the salt , rinse with clear water

Blot up excess then use salt let it sit there for a while then remove and hoover

Never ‘rub’ or ‘scrub’ red wine stain on carpets. This does two things, first it rubs the stain into the carpet instead of blotting the red wine stain out of the carpet and secondly it frays the natural and synthetic fibers of the carpet.

Since this is a dried in stain I will skip over all the quick "remove it while its wet" answers. But FYI – The longer a stain sits, the more it will set and removing wine stains becomes hard. If there is not enough time to use a home remedy mixture to remove the red wine stains on carpets, pour salt or club soda on the stain to prevent the red wine stain from setting into the carpet.

For red wine stains that have set into the carpet, use a commercial stain remover. The best red wine stain remover is Wine Away (wineaway.com). This has saved my bacon (and my carpet) more than once! white wine pour it on it soak it in it leave for 1hr then put a dry towel on it and stamp on it dont rub

I recently found a carpet spray at Lowes that is especially formulated for red stains. Itss called Red Out. Worked like nothing I have ever seen. Good Luck

Step OneBlot the spill with paper towels or a clean cloth.
2Step TwoCombine 1 teaspoon carpet shampoo (or dish soap, like Dawn) and 1 cup hydrogen peroxide in a small bowl. Soak a clean sponge in the mixture, squeeze it halfway dry, then gently blot the stain. Continue until the stain lifts.
3Step ThreeSponge the stained area with warm water.
4Step FourBlot dry with a clean cloth or paper towels.
Tips & Warnings
Act immediately. The longer a stain sits, the harder it is to remove.
Commerical products like Oxy Clean and Wine Away do an excellent job of removing red wine stains, but try this homemade version if you don't have either of those on hand.
